I believe they're carried on board the aircraft as well. Sm...An AED is an Automated External Defibrillator. Small units that can be used to restart someone's heart in the case of a heart attack...although it is only slightly more effective than CPR and must be used WITH CPR...plus you have to HAVE one in the vicinity and know how to use it.
